Osun 2026: Babayemi Calls For Massive Voter Registration

Osun 2026: Babayemi Calls For Massive Voter Registration

As INEC commences voter card registration in preparation for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, a leading All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has implored the people of the state to turn out en masse for the exercise.

Besides, Babayemi urged APC leaders and members across the state, to embark on house-to-house awareness and mobilization to assist in galvanizing the interest of the people towards participating in the registration exercise.

In a release from his Media Office, the popular governorship hopeful maintained that the call has become imperative because of the impact that participation or non-participation in the registration exercise would have on the election.

Specifically, Babayemi contended that the people’s participation would enable those yearning for a change of administration in the state to have the opportunity of voting for the APC during next year’s gubernatorial election in the state and at the same time, ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“It’s important our people come out in large numbers for this INEC-driven voters card registration exercise for the governorship election slated for next year in the state. Voter’s card is the only allowed tool that can be used to elect a new governor as of next year,” he stressed

Consequently, Babayemi canvassed that nothing must be left to chance in ensuring that the residents participate fully in the exercise, adding that those who need to update their data should use the opportunity offered by the period to do so.

In the same vein, the Gbongan-born Prince enjoined parents to make sure that children and wards who have attained the mandatory age of 18 years were registered so that they could vote during the governorship election and subsequently for the re-election of President Tinubu.

“Interestingly, this period offered by INEC, equally provides ample opportunity to the first-time registrants, those who lost or have damaged PVC, and/or those who have relocated or are planning to do so. This is what can seamlessly guarantee the fulfillment of the desire of our people in their quest for a new government in Osun and the continuation of the second term of our President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. No shortcut to this except through the INEC laid down routes,” he asserted

Meanwhile, Babayemi, who commended the INEC in its efforts at deepening the country’s democratic traditions through well-established norms, urged the body not to relent in its bid to ensure that all eligible adults were left uncaptured in the registration exercise.
